Hello, my name is Vince. I have not drank for 12 years but I eat too many damn pills. I haven't now for 5 days. I'm very anxious and kinda nutty. I really want to stop. Clonopin doesn't do what it used to anymore for me. Anyone have any pointers? Vince

Are you attending NA meetings? I would sugest you go to both AA and NA meetings. You can do them online too, but look for local ones and work both, with sponsors and doing the steps. Many have been there and found their way to sobriety, you will too.
I am an AA member and I do online and f2f meetings. Online I come here to Alano and also to www.e-aa.org. E-AA is an a group of recoverind and recovered alcoholics.

Hi Lucia. Thank you so much for replying. I have been looking in Hagerstown MD for some meetings. I went to AA for over 10 years but when I moved up to the mountains it seems there aren't many. I am just barely sober from pills. I have done the steps years ago and it saved my life. In the last year I OD'ed 2 times surviving it. God is truly watching out for me. I will continue to look up here for meetings and come back here also. I will look on AOL also I know they have a good online meeting. But they can't substitute for real ones I know this. I have 5 kids and they are very hard to handle. One had 3 DWI's now and is facing time. My 3rd son is smoking pot like mad. It drives me nuts and pushes me back down to the pills. I do have 6 days now........yayyyyyyyy...I'm a basket case but I knew this would happen. Thank you and God Bless......Vince

My name is Elaine and I am an alcoholic and pill head too.
my bottom was on the 20th floor of my the 20 story apartment I lived in in Besthesda!!
boy do I know where you are coming from. Yes, you are a miracle. I took 15 pills a day and they no longer worked for me, so I topped them off with a bottle of wine or champagne, pretty much every night. Certain pills fall into the same category as alcohol in terms of how they effect the brain. Colonopin, from what I have learned, is a depressant and works much the same as alcohol.
I watched someone come down off of colonopin and it is not fun. Can you talk to your doctor about ways to help you detox? GOD MADE DOCTORS AND ENTIRE CHAPTER OF THE BIG BOOK OF ALCOHOLICS ANONYMOUS IS DEDICATED TO DOCTORS---the doctor's opinion!!
I ended up in MD as a geographic, so I moved back to LA and sobered up there.
At about 3 years sober, I moved up to northern california. where I live the meetings are very different----I live in the mountains too, but very close to SF. Still the meetings are different fro LA meetings and it took a long time to adjust. That was 11 years ago and I still miss those nitty gritty LA meetings!!

Hi Elaine. Thank you so much for taking the time to talk with me. Sometimes I think I'm gonna lose my mind. Damn Colonopins, but I know who took them. I am doing ok for today and I haven't taken anything at all. My moods are up and down. I worry alot about money etc. I have 5 kids 2 of which live here with me and aren't doing great but they're alive and well. Yesterday I locked all the colonopins in the shed but I know that leaves the door wide open.

there is a closed email aa meeting here at onlinealano and we discuss more than just alcohol. there is also a member in maryland with excellent sobriety. you are most welcome.

i am glad you wrote. yes i have 3 small kids. I cannot imagine what FIVE must be like.
Do they still have good meetings at ***suburban hospital?***. They had some awsome Pill anonymous meetings. they followed AA. I think I still have a pamplet from there!!
I remember a big, bad crack addict from DC sharing his story. he scared everyone.... he came up to me after the meeting and asked me how long I was sober and I told him a few days, and he said, "you are so darling, please stay with us". Jeez, this program can bring out the teddy bear in anyone!!
