I am writing to see if you know of any support groups online for someone who lives with an alcoholic. I am a 22 year old Graphic Design student. It is my senior year in college and for the past 3 yrs I have lived away from home at school. This year I came home to the same conditions I left. My father has been a verbal and physical abusive alcoholic since I can remember to my 2 older sisters, my mother, and I. My sisters are now happily married to sweet and supportive husbands. My mom is a smart, southern lady that has been insecure in herself more-so now than ever. She has also started to turn to alcohol to deal with the troubles of her marriage. They have been married for 35 years and she feels there is no hope left in herself or my father. My sisters and I think differently about the matter but until we can get everyone to want make changes, it would help to do something for myself. I have a serious boyfriend that comes from a family that I have never known, healthy and happy. He is about to graduate Law school this semester and is ready to get me out of this situation. I look forward to giving him a wonderful family, such as his, one day. I love my parents and am thankful for everything they have given me but between the time that I am living here and graduation I have to keep myself secure. It is a real tough time dealing with the pressures of school and family. I would truly appreciate it if you could help me find someone to talk to or help me understand more about my family troubles.
