It seems there are no discussions concerning narcotics abuse. I have been going to meetings and was required to locate chat rooms and would you believe all I can find is Alano discussions. Is there anyone out there who would like to talk? The addictions are probably the same and dealt with the same, but I am just curious is there more AA's than NA's? Thanks.

In addition to the NA forum within these forums, there is an NA email meeting at the Online Alano Club. There are also links to online NA email and chat meetings (go back to the home page and look in the links directories). There is also a scheduled NA chat meeting at the Online Alano Club. Look at the Club Meeting Schedule page.
As for addictions' being the same and being dealt with the same, you have been misinformed. For a medical overview, look in one or more medical manuals. As for 12th Step programs, sure, the 12 Steps are quite similar from program to program. But that's deceptive. For example, there is only one word difference between the wording of AA's 12 Steps and Al-Anon's 12 Steps, but no one suggested I go to Al-Anon for my alcoholism. The difference is something called "identification at depth." If a person is not an alcoholic, and he or she relies on AA for recovery ... from whatever ... the person usually won't relate to others and and one of three things will happen:
1. The person will leave AA and start saying stuff such as "AA doesn't work."
2. The person will get to the correct program, for him or her, such as NA.
3. The person will stay in AA and begin demanding that AA change to suit his or her personal needs.
As for how many alcoholics as opposed to addicts there are in the world, yes, there are more alcoholics, many more, so it would be reasonable to assume that there would be more alcoholics online as well.
