I am new to this club and have read the last few postings with much interest. I have attended only 1 AA meeting and was disappointed with the topic of converstation. I am on a hunt to find a Home group and a Sponsor. Can this be done online? Do you think my counselor would accept it as AA meetings. If you have any suggestions, I am listening. smile.gif

Hi Julie,

My name is Clark and I'm an alcoholic in Ontario.

I belong to an on-line AA group that you might like to look at.

We have reguar on-line AA meetings every day. The members would be happy to welcome you and I think you will find what you're looking for. smile.gif

Go to: www.e-AA.org

Everything is well laid out and you find a goldmine of information.
You will also meet some fine, friendly, understanding people.

The chat room is open 24/7/365.

Try it! You'll like it!

I am new to AA and I am terrified because my husband wants me to quit drinking and I want to stop, my fear is that he will not give me enough privacy to talk to other people who have a drinking problem. I am essentially a very priviate person when it comes to personal problems, I have hide my drinking well from work and family. My drink of choice is wine and I only drank at night, but found myself drinking earlier on the weekend, that is when I knew it was time to stop. I feel so violated when my husband noses into my business, I feel like he is always trying to control me. At least when I was drinking I could let it go. Now I am like anxious because I desire to have privacy and he has no clue. We are both busy people is there a place where he can chat with other spouse's of alchoholics so we can get through this. Also I am not a meeting person, at all, live in to small of a town, what do some of you do when you have cravings? How can I deal with my husband and make him understand how hard this is and to stop smothering me? dry.gif

Your husband could try Al-Anon. You could try reading the book Alcoholics Anonymous. It's online if you don't want to purchase it: http://www.aa.org . There are some chapters in there that might be applicable to your husband as well.

I understand how you feel I have been to many meetings that actually make me wanna drink. I always no matter how bad some meetings are try and look for just one thing or comment to keep me reminded what will happen if I take the first drink. Usually meetings are good and you have the real awesome meetings sometimes that make up for all the bad ones.

Hi, Steeev. Talk a look in the links directory:

http://www.onlinealano.org/links/

There are a number of online groups listed there. My online home group is at http://www.e-aa.org

As for whether your counselor would accept online meetings, you'd need to ask him, or her.

AA meetings aren't the program of recovery from alcoholism. AA meetings are great, and they were essential in my recovery. However, the program is the 12 Steps. You can find information in the book Alcoholics Anonymous and also in Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions. I'd also suggest finding a sponsor, someone to lead you through the Steps, if you want to do AA.
