1. Fellowship Email List Available

So that Online Alano Club members can remain on this business and news list without getting overwhelmed by mail, we've created a separate email list for fellowship and unstructured discussion. You can subscribe and unsubscribe yourself from the Lounges page:

http://www.onlinealano.org/html/lounges.html

2. Meetings at the Club

There are now both AA and Al-Anon meeting forums, http://www.onlinealano.org/forums/. At present, these are topic-discussion meetings. The AA meeting has a leader; the Al-Anon meeting needs a leader (post a message in the forums if you're interested).

Two email meetings are available: AA and Al-Anon. These are at present leaderless topic-discussion meetings. You can subscribe and unsubscribe from the Meetings page:

http://www.onlinealano.org/html/meetings.html

No one has yet taken on the responsibility for holding a regular chat meeting of any kind. Within the next week, however, there will be people in the chat rooms at specific times to help get chat meetings started. More information coming soon.

3. Literature Giveaway Winners

The winner of the July Literature Giveaway will be announced as soon as we receive word that we have a valid mailing address for the person.

The August Literature Giveaway is now in progress. You may enter by clicking the link on any of the main web site pages.

We're considering giving away other AA books or even literature from other fellowships. Your comments and suggestions are welcome.

4. Free Email Program Fixed

Free email accounts are available when you register in the discussion forums, http://www.onlinealano.org/forums/. (This is a separate registration from Club Membership.) Some people were having difficulty sending or receiving mail as well as using the Spell Checker. The program has been upgraded and fixed.

5. Free Personal Home Page Builder Ready

On another domain, we've installed an online web site builder. This is free to Club Members. There's a built-in editor that functions similar to a word processing program, or you can switch that off and code your own pages. You can also upload existing pages and graphics. To create your own home page, or mini-site, go here: http://www.trudgers.org/cgi-bin/sites.cgi, click the link to create an account, and select the "Members" option from the drop-down list. Mailing and contact information is not required, but a valid email address is. Once you complete the sign-up process, there's a sample home page included in your default set up that explains the features. The page looks like this: http://www.trudgers.org/sample/index.html. If you have problems or questions, send me a private message.

6. Traffic Report

The web site averages about 160 visitors per day. The most popular part of the site is the discussion forums. There were approximately 3,300 page views in July. About 330 people logged into the chat rooms last month. Some 320 people sent virtual postcards. The games are also quite popular.

7. Membership Numbers

There are now 190 Club Members, 118 of them on this member business email list. (It is not a membership requirement to be on the list. News and announcements are also posted here, though they are abbreviated.)

8. Additional Forums, Programs, Activities?

If you have ideas for additional forums (http://www.onlinealano.org/forums/), post your suggestions directly in the forums. Some other ideas for additional online activities include a multiplayer bingo game (no gambling, however) and a recipe database.

9. Clubs Directory

The beginnings of a recovery clubs and fellowship halls directory is online at http://www.onlinealano.org/html/clubs.html. The entries on that page are only clubs that have asked to be there. (All are participating on a clubs mailing list sponsored by the Online Alano Club. If you have a club locally, please ask the manager or some board members to review this page: http://www.onlinealano.org/html/connect.html. It's a great opportunity to establish a web presence or just talk to others involved in club management.

And that's the news.
