huh.gif Hi, I dont really have a topic, I was just curious about the idea of AA on-line. I'm Royal and I have been sober for a little over three years, a toddeler.
My interest has to do with the fact that I am really busy with full time school and work and have been missing meetings lately. I still hit my weekly home group and, with luck, two to three meetings on the weekends. I am one who has relapsed before and DO NOT WANT TO RELAPSE AGAIN. Quite frankly I'm scared and am wondering if this kind of meeting coucd help me feel more connected.

My name is Cathy E. and I am an alcoholic.

Just as every person has their own personality so does every meeting. I was very active in our local Alano Club attending an average of 10 meetings there a week. Then it was damaged beyond repair in a fire. I felt so lost. I had heard about groups online but had never tried it.

I have been so grateful for this place since I found it. I joined the ongoing email meeting. It kept me connected when I most needed it. I have also been able to catch people in the chat room for a little live sharing.

Even though we have a new facility and I am once again very active in those face to face meetings, I still make time to check on my email meeting friends and pop in to the discussion forums and chat room. I really miss it if something keeps me up so late that I have to get to bed without checking in with everyone.

So, Royal, stick around and maybe you'll find a home here too!

smile.gif Hello, I just recently got back on the internet. This is my first time coming
to this site as well royal. One thing that I do know is that if we can keep an open mind. We all are welcome. Even though we may not like everything that we come to hear. Or in this case read.
You say your a toddler at three years. That is something that I looking at as a long time. I'm learning that it really isn't though. I've just made it to 6 mons. as of yesterday, Oct. 18 '04. I feel good even though I've got a cold. Part of the reason that I came here was to try catch someone to talk to also.
Don't get stressed over the amount of time you have to go to a metting. Just try to get to them when you can. That is all that we can really do. We can't live tomorrow ya know.
Have a good day.

Hi Frank and Carla,
Tell me more about yourselves.
I am Pam and I am an alcoholic.
I have been in recovery a long time. I do a bit of work
on this site and another. It's fun. I am old to sobriety but REALY
new to computers although I am getting older by the minute.
Are you both going to meetings, or looking for conversation?
Do you need literature? Do you have a topic?
I'd be happy to reply.
Sobriety is the best thing that ever happened to me.
No more being tired of being sick and tired.
No more feeling lost and alone, no more visits to custodial care house. hehe.
All and all a much better life. All because AA showed me a better way to live.

I get a little slap happy this time of the night but
I'll check back tomorrow and see if you want more conversation.
Hugs for now. smile.gif

Bernie
Hello I'm Bernie and I'm an alchoholic, I just registered and very interested on how I can further my sobriety online. I have been sober for two months and nine days. Ive been truely blessed with the fellowships I've been involved with in real life. I would also be interested in a live chat room if there is anything like that available?
Guest_PamW
Hi Bernie,
This is a fairly new site so we are still working on getting chat room meetings
going.
We have a chat room here and Dean tells me that lots of people visit it but we keep missing each other.
If you check the meetings list there are times when meetings are listed but
I am not sure of the times, I am also not sure if they are running.
You can also join the online "aameeting" that runs all the time and every once in
a while someone throws out a really good topic.
Just wander around this site a bit and you will find all kinds of interesting things
going on.
If you have any more questions you can drop a note to Dean as he has a lot of
the more specific answers. Or to me as I have a good listening ear.
Good luck,
PamW smile.gif

Thank you for replying, I'm looking forward to being able to share and be of service here online as well. It's a great filling being clean and sober. biggrin.gif
